HAVE A SEAT — The new Delevan Heath Center is located at 38 North Main St. in Delevan.
DELEVAN — Olean General Hospital has announced plans for the opening of the Delevan Health Center on Monday, Aug 20. The new, $1.4 million health center is located in the Delevan Plaza, at 38 North Main St., Route 16 in Delevan. It will offer primary care and dental services to residents in and around northern Cattaraugus County.“Improving access to essential care is a priority and a commitment of Olean General Hospital,” said Timothy Finan, president and CEO of OGH. “The Delevan Health Center delivers the convenience of close-to-home care in a new, modern and comfortable setting.”
The new center is located in the town of Yorkshire, which was identified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as both a medically under-served area and a dental professional shortage area.
“When we considered this opportunity, it was clear to us that placing a health center with both primary care and dental services ... would respond to these delivery system deficits and significantly improve access to basic healthcare services for area residents,” Finan said.
Primary care services for children and adults will be under the direction of Elizabeth Printup, FNP, RN., a family medicine nurse practitioner who has worked in small rural community clinics, as well as in military health care settings as a captain in the United States Navy.
Primary care services will include sports, school and annual physicals, immunizations, chronic disease management, well and sick visits. Same-day appointments will also be available.
The Delevan Health Center’s dental services for children and adults will be provided under the direction of Gregory McCraith, DDS, with the assistance of a full-time dental hygienist. McCraith was formerly the chief of dentistry at OGH. The Delevan Health Center is a premier affiliate of that hospital’s Gundlah Dental Center.
Dental services will include cleanings, routine exams, school dental exams, fillings, sealants, root canals, extractions, crowns and bridges.
The Delevan Health Center occupies 7,500 square feet in the Delevan Plaza. Approximately 5,316 square feet has been reconstructed to create the center’s primary care and dental services areas.
The public is invited to an open house on Aug. 16 from 1 – 5 p.m., where Printup will be on hand to offer free blood pressure screenings.
