Back to school drive at Cattaraugus County Bank
SPRINGVILLE –– The America’s Promise team at Cattaraugus County Bank will be holding a back to school supply drive throughout the month of August.
The drive is intended to provide area school children with supplies they may need, but cannot afford.
Requested items include: pens, pencils, loose leaf paper, pocket folders, glue sticks, colored pencils, crayons, spiral notebooks, highlighters, liquid glue, construction paper, scissors, erasers, poster board, scotch tape, stickers, wide ruled paper and composition notebooks.
Book bags, tissues and lunch boxes will also be accepted.
A red wagon, the national symbol for America’s Promise, will be displayed as a drop-off location in each bank through the end of the month. CCB will distribute the supplies to local schools in September.
“This is what we do as part of the America’s Promise commitment: We help children,” said America’s Promise Team Chair Mary Jo Woodarek.
“There are so many children that need these items to enhance their learning experience. Without the proper school supplies, some children may not have the same opportunity others enjoy.”
The stated goal of America’s Promise is to ensure that children receive an ongoing relationship with a caring adult-mentor; access to safe places and structured activities during non-school hours; a healthy start; a marketable skill through effective education and an opportunity to give back through community service.
Springville’s Cattaraugus County Bank is located at 325 South Cascade Drive.
