Sunday April 29, 2012 | By:Press Release |
Cattaraugus County Bank, in partnership with America’s Promise, a national, not-for-profit organization, will be selling red paper wagons for a donation from May 1 - 31. The red wagon is recognized as the symbol of America’s Promise.
All proceeds will go into an America’s Promise fund at CCB and will be used to support various communities’ child-oriented requests. The AP Team at CCB has donated to Cattaraugus and Chautauqua county envirothons, New York State Special Olympics, area youth soccer, the Robert H. Jackson Middle School Reading Program, Franklinville boys varsity swim team, ASPIRE of WNY, Hunter’s Hope, Fire Department Children Safety Program, Blount Library Summer Reading Program, St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, Cattaraugus County National Honor Society and various Boys & Girls clubs. Many individual families have been helped, as well.
CCB joined America’s Promise in 1999. The stated goal of this alliance is to ensure that the resources children need are provided to them.
“The wagon sale is one of the many fundraisers we hope our friends and customers will take part in,” said Mary Jo Woodarek, CCB’s America’s Promise chairperson. “Whether it’s school supplies, a hat and mittens for the winter season or financial help achieving a goal, America’s Promise may be able to help.” Each CCB location will be accepting donations. When individuals purchase a paper wagon, their names will be entered into a drawing for a cookbook or red wagon. One will be given away at each CCB branch.
