Pet owners may bring all dogs, cats, goats, rabbits or other animals to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ellicottville for a blessing of the animals service on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. A reception for the pets and their owners will follow the service.
Joyful Rescues, a Cuba-based animal shelter, will bring rescued dogs and cats to the service. The animals will be available for adoption.
St. Paul’s supports Joyful Rescues, under the leadership of Kathy Schuster. The shelter has expressed a desire for canned food and treats, leashes, collars, blankets, towels and wash clothes, paper towels and cleaning supplies.
St. Paul’s is also collecting money to purchase a commercial washing machine for Joyful Rescues. Bring donations of items or money to the church, at any time, or during the pet blessing service. Checks may be made out to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with the notation “Joyful Rescue” at the bottom and mailed to P.O. Box 656, Ellicottville, NY 14731.
