Website and hotline answer questions about SAFE Act

ERIE COUNTY — A website and hotline have been created, to answer questions about the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013.

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office created www.www.nysafeact.com. Visitors to the site will find a list of frequently-asked questions about this new law.

The site also features a section about the definition of assault weapons, including photos of weapons, illegal features, a list of some banned weapons and firearms that are not considered assault weapons.

The New York State Police established a hotline, to address the issue. The line is now available at 1-855-529-4867.

The hotline will run on normal business hours Monday – Friday and will be staffed by state police members.
