North Tonawanda native Ricky Brooks continues his climb through the Chicago White Sox system as he was recently promoted from advanced Class-A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham.
A fifth round pick of the Sox in 2005, Brooks was bumped up after Lucas Harrell was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte.
Harrell, who was leading the Southern League with eight wins, will make his Triple-A debut Monday against the Bisons.
“To be honest with you this will probably be the first time I see him throw,” said Knights manager and former Yankee great Chris Chambliss. “It’s possible that I saw him (briefly) in spring, but he wasn’t with my group in spring training so I wouldn’t have really seen him. So he’s getting his first start and we’ll see what we’ve got.”
Brooks, meanwhile, was 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA in ten appearances with Winston-Salem.

Looking to work on his breaking ball, Snell’s mission is to also get back to consistently throwing first-pitch strike. Snell struck out 17 Toledo batters, 13 in a row, over seven innings of work in the Indians 2-1 victory over Toledo on June 28.
