We here in the end zone had it all figured out. We thought we would lead with the rebirth of the New Orleans Saints and their great quarterback Drew Brees.
But, then the Buffalo Bills decided to put on a great display (sarcasm) against the Miami Dolphins.
It was one of the best games (again sarcasm) that I have seen the Bills play.
Offensively how they moved the ball up and down the field with ease (you see where I am going with this), and how the defense stuffed the run time and time again.
It was one of the best performances I have ever witnessed in all my years of watching the Bills.
The Bills are bad and getting T.O. was more of a smoke screen than anything. T.O. is a difference maker, but not on this team.
Why get a guy to help stretch the field when you only throw him the ball for a 3-yard gain?
This isn’t Owens’ fault, even though people would like to blame it on him.
It’s the fault of the head coach, the quarterback, the offensive coordinator, the defensive coordinator, everybody.
I was never a big fan of Trent Edwards when he playing at Stanford. I mean what did he really do there?
It’s not like he lead them to the Rose Bowl or anything like that. He was a decent quarterback who scouts thought would be a good quarterback in the NFL.
Why, because he had the size of an “NFL” quarterback. Come on, really. Look at Drew Brees. He was “undersized” coming out of Purdue and now he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Size, in this case, doesn’t matter. It’s the makeup of the person and Edwards right now doesn’t have it.
But, again, I am not going to put in all on Edwards. He does have help in this department with Dick ‘I can’t win anything’ Jauron.
Jauron was a losing coach when the Bills hired him and while he seems like a nice guy – he just doesn’t have it as a head coach.
The play calls are too predictable. Run on first and second down and throw on third and long.
Don’t get wrong. It is easy for me to sit here on my computer and tell him that he is a bad coach.
But, three years of bad teams or more like 10 years of bad teams in enough.
Sooner or later big Ralph is going to have to bring someone in who knows what he is doing. But, again, why does Ralph care?
He sold out every home game again this year. He got the fans snowed under when he brought in T.O. when he should have fired Jauron.
Maybe the Bills need a shake up. Maybe they should start the Harvard man – Ryan Fitzpatrick. Heck he can’t do any worse then what we have now.
Just think Bills fans if this season continues like it is maybe when will be in line for a Tim Tebow or Colt McCoy. How about Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen.
The alternative has to be better than what we have now.
Just think though, Cleveland is coming in next week, the Bills can beat them – right?
What’s that cooking in the Bayou:
For those living on another planet, the New Orleans Saints are a legit contender for the Super Bowl. At 4-0, the Saints have one games a bunch of different ways.
They won games in the air, on the ground and this week with the defense.
They held the Jets to just 10 points and also returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown. Who Dat, Who Dat that might be marching to the Super Bowl. How about those New Orleans Saints.
Bengals on the prowl:
Shh, don’t tell anybody but the Cincinnati Bengals are 3-1 and should be 4-0 if it wasn’t for a fluke play against the Denver Broncos at the end of the game.
How are they doing it?
Beats me, but I’m not the one that has to explain it.
Or am I?
No, the Bengals are doing with, I can’t believe I am saying this, with defense. That’s right, the Bengals are actually playing some defense this year and it’s paying off.
While Carson Palmer slowly gets back into after almost a year off with an arm injury, the defense has stepped up and has been playing some good ball.
Just think what this team might be able to do when Palmer and offense get back on track. It could be scary.
