So much for some treats on Halloween. It became more of a trick on Saturday as a lot of the big games didn't pan out. An instead of getting some close games, we got blowout and a lot of them.
That's why you can't get so caught up in the talk during the week. All we learned this weekend was that Oregon is a pretty good football team. Cincinnati is still a good football team in a so-so conference. And Texas looks ready to play for a National title.
If something weird happens in the month of November and Texas, Florida or Alabama looses a football game does Cincinnati deserve a chance at the title even though they play in the Big Sleep - I mean Big East?
My answer is yes - and I will tell you why, because I know you are all waiting for it.
I believe they deserve a shot because they would be undefeated. Listen as we all know you just play the games that are on your schedule. The Bearcats can't help they play in the Big Sleep. They can't help they play Syracuse and UConn.
If they go undefeated, they go undefeated. And to me, and undefeated record means a shot at the title.
You could look at everybody's record and find a flaw.
The SEC never, and I mean never, schedules good non-league games. Georigia was the only one this year to go out and get a game against Oklahaoma State and Arizona State.
The Bearcats beat Oregon State - which is usually a spoiler in the Pac 10. As with all teams like Cincinnati they have a hard time playing the big boys at home. Normally, if they are to play a team from a bigger conference they have to go their or play at the home of the Bengals or Cleveland Browns.
It's a policy that has to change. You listening Notre Dame.
The sad thing is, I don't think Cincinnati will get the chance to find out this season. I don't see Texas losing a game this year and the winner of Alabama and Florida will play for the title. But, it is worth the conversation.
Speaking of the Big Sleep: Pittsburgh has put together a nice season so far with a 7-1 record. And they should go to 8-1 this weekend when they take on Syracuse. This is the problem with the Big Sleep is that no one knows are cares about the conference unless it is basketball.
There has been a growing discussion about the Mountain West becoming a BCS conference. This is how I see it. Come bowl season take the Mountain West and match them up with the Big East and the winners of the games becomes a BCS conference.
See how easy that is.
"Home" games: People who read this column know that I like the Irish. But the thing I don't like about Notre Dame is how they are playing this "Home" game outside of South Bend. It looked weird last night watching the Irish take on Washington State in Texas.
It is one of the Notre Dame's "Home" games under a new model that was released last year to get the Irish more exposure.
How much exposure do you need when your name is Notre Dame? If you can't recruit with that name then you have some series problems.
The only game I like is next year when they travel to Yankee Stadium to take on Army. To me that is more of a tradition than anything else. Notre Dame and Army used to play at the old Yankee Stadium all the time.
The thing I don't like about it is that Notre Dame is the home team. How can the Irish be the home team when the game is like 45 minutes from West Point. If Notre Dame wants to play this game at this venue then Army should be the home team. Army should get the money from the game. If NBC wants to put in on t.v. that's fine. But, the Black Knights should be wearing their black home jerseys and the Irish should be in white.

Cincinnati is good but not good enough yet. Give them a year or two.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ND has it worked into the TV contract with NBC that the opponent receives nearly $1 million each week. How much would Army make if they were the home team and there were no NBC coverage?
