Clients are considered friends at the Dragonfly Studio and Salon.
Dragonfly Studio and Salon is surely a one-of-a-kind business. With the variety of services that are offered and the unique products that are used, you’ll leave this salon feeling pampered, relaxed and healthy.Sarah Carr-Mansouri had worked in a salon for 11 years and built a photography studio in her home before finally making her dreams come true. She wanted to fulfill her lifelong goal.
A building that had been vacant for five years had ended up being the perfect location for her business even though it needed a significant amount of work. After knocking down walls, widening doorways, adding a ramp and much more, Carr-Mansouri was able to open up Dragonfly Studio and Salon at 8290 Main St. in Clarence.
“We love Clarence as a community,” she said. “It just had everything we wanted. It was everything that we needed.”
The building has previously been a home as well. Walking in, you’re greeted with the smiling face and bubbly personality of Carr-Mansouri. To your right, you’ll find her photography studio, which she takes great pride in. To your left you’ll see a display of jewelry made by local artisans that Carr-Mansouri promotes and sells on site.
Walking through, you’ll pass the shampoo and coloring stations where all products are as natural as they come. Carr-Mansouri insists on using the healthiest products available, all of which are organic and safe.
“Environmentally, we’re probably one of the most health conscious salons because we believe in completely respecting personal health and the environment,” she said. “All of our products are geared towards that.”
Through another doorway, you’ll see a makeup station where, again, you’ll find the safest and healthiest makeup that a salon can buy and a nail station. Towards the front of the salon, you’ll enter a large room with a fireplace where all the haircutting and styling takes place.
Another room on the main floor is the host for pedicures, which use one-time disposable liners instead of the large jetted tubs that you find at most salons.
Upstairs is the level of relaxation with a massage and facial room as well as a waxing room.
The salon and studio hosts several parties such as birthdays and bridal. Also, for those who would love to have a girls night out, Carr-Mansouri will allow groups to book the salon and studio and have it all to themselves for the evening.
Between Carr-Mansouri and her staff of five, a couple hundred clients have become regulars of Dragonfly. Along with their regular clients, they also receive new ones through referrals.
“That’s your best advertising,” said Carr-Mansouri when talking about new clients coming into the salon after being referred to her. “If someone likes what they see, they ask where they had it done.”
Although she loves her staff that she has today and considers them her friends, Carr-Mansouri would really like to add to her experienced and talented team. She also hopes to move towards educating her clients more about what products to use and what is healthy and safe and what isn’t.
After being open for more than a year, Carr-Mansouri said that she doesn’t even think of going to work as a job anymore. With her friendly and fun staff and her great clients, she enjoys going to work everyday.
“Everyday here is not like a workday,” She said “We come in and it’s like we’re just having our friends over.”
Dragonfly Studio and Salon is open from noon until 8 p.m. on Monday, 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Sundays.
