Find the perfect design with Interiors By Dana

For more than two decades, Dana Longfritz has been helping the Lockport area with their design needs.

Longfritz has been working in the interior design business for the past 20 years. She began her career at Mecorney’s Decorating in Lockport and when that closed a few years ago, she began Interiors By Dana.

Interiors By Dana helps people with custom window treatments, commercial and residential design, room arrangements and more.

“I’ve always liked it since I was a kid,” said Longfritz.

She said she began designing by rearranging every room in her parent’s house.

Longfritz received her associate’s degree in interior design, before beginning her career. Since then, she has designed hundreds of rooms in the Lockport area.

One of her favorite designs was when she got to decorate an older Victorian home. She also enjoys commercial work and designing in a more modern and contemporary style.

“I can adapt to any style,” said Longfritz.

When choosing to decorate and design a room, Longfritz suggests that people find a starting point to work off of. She said they should find an object they like and build from there.

“Whatever it is, existing flooring, a piece of furniture or a color you like,” she said. “People have brought in a piece of fabric or an object they know is going to go in a room. I’ve built a room around a dinner plate.”

Longfritz and Interiors By Dana is currently working out of M Carter Decor, 360 West Ave., Lockport. She said with the current owner Peter Sharp is retiring and Tom Dedline — a floor installer with 20 plus years of experience — and her are in the process of making final arraignments and plans to continue to run the business.

M Carter Designs features all types of flooring, including carpet, hardwood floors, laminate, area rugs and ceramic tiles. They also carry a wide variety of window fashions and supplies. M Carter Decor is currently in its 50th year.

Interiors By Dana will operate out of the front of the store, helping customers with their selections.

Longfritz said customers could expect a lot of knowledge on all of their design needs.

“You’re set,” she said. “There is my expertise on design and window treatments and Tom’s expertise and knowledge of every product and expertise on instillation and flooring.”

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. The store is also open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
