Visit Continental Transmission, 3814 Union Rd., where everyone’s motto is “Do the right thing.”
When customers bring their car in to get fixed, they like to feel secure in knowing that they won’t get ripped off; which is exactly why a local shop has been in business since 1973.“We’re a family owned and operated business,” said Owner of Continental Transmission, Mickey Glenn. “Our mission is to do the right thing for customers and provide quality services at a reasonable price.”
Continental Transmission, 3814 Union Rd., Cheektowaga is one of Western New York’s largest transmission dealers, specializing in repairing front-wheel and four-wheel drive vehicles, RV’s, motor home vans, light duty trucks and much more. They also service all import and domestic models. The business welcomes all extended warranties and offers free road testing and visual inspections.
Glenn said he’s always had a passion for automotive repair since he was a young adult. He has a bachelor in science in marketing and management from Niagara University and while he was in college he worked for a supermarket chain, something he knew wasn’t for him.
“Truth of the matter is I did not want to be 50-years-old and get laid off, he said. “I wanted to be in charge of my own financial future and my biggest goal was to get into the specialty aspect of automotive repairs.”
Glenn’s shop thrives on providing high-quality service at a fair price. When customers come into the store they can feel at ease knowing that they will always be in good hands.
“You know, you’ve got to give part of yourself when you’re in this business so people trust you,” said Glenn.
“I’ve got people who, before you even give them a price or talk to them, give you the keys and tell you “Just fix it,” and for a transmission shop, that’s pretty good.”
Glenn also said what sets his business apart is the specialized training that all of his service techs receive. They are required to attend various seminars and classes to make sure everyone is up to date on the latest updates and technology.
“We are trained in serving automatic and manual transmission repairs, differentials, all automotive repair for the drive train on the vehicle,” said Glenn.
The shop has four service technicians who are all Automotive Service Excellence certified and two office personals.
Their job is to make sure vehicles are ready when promised and there is a system set in place that does just that. The turn around time for vehicles is only one to two days depending on the service needed.
Continental Transmission shops are also located in West Seneca, Buffalo, and Hamburg. Glenn’s son Scott will soon be running the Cheektowaga location.
The business is open Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information on what Continental Transmission has to offer call 683-4872.
