Buffalo Wing Wear will add some saucy style to any wardrobe

Buffalo wings are well-known commodities in our area but wouldn’t it be neat if we could show off our pride in them to others?

“That’s kind of our claim to fame, Buffalo and chicken wings, everyone equates the two. As time passed, people didn’t really know that chicken wings were invented in Buffalo so to have something that was created here, I would like to foster that and let people really remember,” said Creator of Buffalo Wing Wear, Susan Maher.

After Maher, a Cheektowaga resident, searched for a chicken wing tie to buy for a friend in 2009 she was surprised to find out there weren’t any available. That was when she decided it was time to make some wing creations of her own.

Hats, bandanas, Silly Bandz, neckties, and headbands, you name it and Maher sells it, all with the famous chicken wing logo plastered on the outside with pride. For those who want to keep warm during the winter months, Buffalo Wing Wear offers chicken wing fleece headbands, knit beanies, and tassel ski hats. Some of Maher’s merchandise comes with the logo “Buffalo Wing Wear” while others have simply “Buffalo, New York.” This way, customers can pick and choose which saying they like best.

Although her newest product, the chicken wing bandana has become her most popular and is flying off of the shelves. The best part is, all merchandise is made in America. Maher said it is a struggle to get things made in the U.S. because there are very few manufacturers that still make clothing here.

“The bandana is the neatest out of the bunch because it is all cotton made in the United States so that is my favorite thing to talk about. It’s already really difficult to get things made in America and here we have a chicken wing bandana that was made in the United States,” said Maher.

Maher also keeps her business very local by hiring an embroidery company in Cheektowaga to customize the apparel. Most of the business is done online but there are also many restaurants in the area that sell Buffalo Wing Wear as well and she is currently speaking to the Made in America store in Elma to see if they will sell her merchandise too.

Buffalo Wing Wear apparel is sold for $20 or less. Patrons can find Buffalo Wing Wear at Tile Pharmacy, Cheektowaga, the Anchor Bar Gift Shop, Buffalo, Vidler’s, East Aurora, Bay-6 Buffalo Clothing Co., West Seneca, and the Gift Loft in Buffalo. Maher also sells her merchandise at various Buffalo events like the Buffalo Wing Festival.

Maher said her future plans for the business are to come up with chicken wing suspenders, pajama pants, and a Hawaiian style shirt with the chicken wing logo. For more information or to purchase Buffalo Wing Wear visit www.buffalowingwear.com or call 480-7032.
