Find the right ingredients at Herbal Magick in Lockport

For the past nine years Herbal Magick, Inc. has been filling a unique need in the Lockport community.
Owner Angela Blackley said before she decided to open the store she was in a bad car accident, which resulted in her losing her job. After that, she began looking around Lockport and asking “what don’t we have available.”
Her answer was, “a good bulk herb, spice and tea shop.”
Herbal Magick carries more than 1,600 herbs, teas, spices, supplements, bach flower remedies, homeopathic remedies and essential oils.
Blackley said the store also carries a large quantity of books on related topics and a ton of gift items, including jewelry, music and crystals.
“I try and cover every modality,” she said. “I try and buy as much USA made products that I can.”
There is a full culinary section, and a craft section, for people wanting to make their own potpourri, facials, bath scrubs, massage oils or perfumes.
The store also carries 150 loose leaf teas, which are all organic and many blended in New York state.
Herbal Magick also recently began carrying Sunbeam Candles from Ithaca. The candle line is completely “green,” made with soy wax, essential oils, cotton wicks and no perfumes.
The products offered at Herbal Magick are all organic and there is no minimum amount that has to be purchased. Blackley said a customer could purchase a teaspoon, a tablespoon, a cup, a pound or any other amount of a product.
By offering that, she said people are able to taste and try items to find what they like.
“I like being able to provide products they can’t get at Walmart,” said Blackley.
Blackley also likes to work closely with the physicians in the area. She said the store is doctor referred when they decide to treat a patient with supplements or herbals.
Herbal Magick, 402 West Ave. in Lockport, is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
This month, the shop will be highlighted on the Home Shopping Network.. The Royalty Tea of Kenya tea line, which the store carries, will be sold on HSN 30 times in September and October between 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Herbal Magick will be focused on during those times as a place to buy the tea.
There will also be a 50 percent off customer appreciation sale during Black Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24. Contact the store for more details.
