It’s that time in the season and The Battle of The Bridge has come and gone. Except this time it was different. Instead of playing in front of a packed house at Buffalo State, we traveled to a sold-out Dwyer Arena to play against the Niagara Purple Eagles. The outcome of the game was also different from last year, a 5-2 loss for the Griffins. In a game where emotions were running high, we were unable to capitalize on our chances and came up short in the end. We didn’t have too much time to wallow in our sorrows, as UConn was coming to town whether we were feeling good about ourselves or not. As Coach Smith always stresses, it may take us 10, 30, 60, or 65 read more

If the weekend has proved anything it’s that Canisius College freshman goaltender Dan Morrison gives the Griffs another option between the pipes. Griffs play with something to prove |

Canisius College came into tonight’s game against UConn with a chip on its shoulder. Still smarting from their embarrassing loss against cross town rival Niagara University on Tuesday night, the Griffs wanted to let everybody know that they are a lot better than what they showed that night. Mission accomplished.
Canisius used a three goal second quarter as they cruised past UConn, 6-0, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

Without games to look forward to this past weekend, the Golden Griffins tried to see what life had to offer outside of hockey. While practices, workouts and video sessions were focused and productive, there were a few events last week that made an impact on many of us on the team. Last Tuesday’s presidential election was a historical event and the first witnessed for some of the Griffs from the Great White North. I was told two interesting facts today: The Canisius College hockey team completed it’s first weekend sweep since taking both games at Connecticut on Jan. 27 and 28, 2006 and with the two wins against AIC, tied the number of wins we had on the road all last season. All kidding aside, last weekend’s games were great to be a part of. The team put together six great periods of hockey and really showed that when we stick to our team systems, we’re a tough opponent to play against. Our penalty kill was perfect on the weekend and the read more

Sunday was a day to relax and was used to do some much needed catching up on homework. We were coming off of a split with Ferris State of the CCHA. The victory was the first for the Griffs against a team from one of the four original conferences (CCHA, ECAC, Hockey East, WCHA).
