Walters, Pero re-elected; Dixon and Kozub win big in legislative races; GOP sweeps in Boston

Here's a quick glance at some of the results in the contested races in the six towns that reside in the circulation area of The Sun.:
HAMBURG —
In the three-way race between incumbent Republican Steven Walters, Democratic challenger Patricia Michalek and Independence Party candidate Dennis Gaughan for town supervisor in Hamburg, Walters has opened up a commanding lead with approximately 85 percent of the districts reporting.
Walters has 58 percent (5,900 votes) of the vote while Michalek has 28 percent (2,807 votes) and Gaughan has 14 percent (1,396 votes.)
In the five-way race for two four-year terms on the Hamburg Town Board, with approximately 85 percent of the districts reporting, Democrat Joseph Collins has 27 percent (5,032 votes) of the vote while Republicans Amy Carroll Ziegler (4,195 votes) and Bryan Wittmeyer (4,095 votes) each have 22 percent of the vote. Democrat Leonard Kowalski has 20 percent (3,679 votes) of the vote, while Conservative Vince Gugliuzza (1,790 votes) has approximately 10 percent of the vote.
In the race for a two-year term on the Hamburg Town Board, with 85 percent of the districts reporting, Jon Gorman has 52 percent (4,948 votes) of the vote while David Bellissimo has 48 percent (4,642 votes.)
EVANS —
In a special vote to eliminate the position of tax receiver, those in favor of that move have 53 percent of the vote (1,439 votes) while those opposed to the measure have 47 percent (1,263 votes) of the vote with 76 percent of the voting districts reporting.
ERIE COUNTY LEGISLATURE —
With approximately 90 percent of the voting districts reporting, Democratic incumbent Dan Kozub with 64 percent (5,404 votes) leads Republican challenger Vince Tobia, who has 36 percent (3,022 votes.)
In the 12th District, Republican challenger Lynne Dixon (60 percent) leads Bob Reynolds (41 percent) by over 2,400 votes in the 12th District.
BOSTON —
With 100 percent of the voting districts reporting, Republican challenger Marty Ballowe (53 percent) defeated incumbent Democrat Richard Hawkins (47 percent) by approximately 150 votes in the race for a four-year term as town supervisor.
In the four-way race for two seats on the Boston Town Board, Republican challengers Jeff Genzel (29 percent) and Jay Boardway (28 percent) have defeated incumbent Democrats Cathleen Dobson (23 percent) and David Ruzzine (21 percent.)
BRANT —
In the race for a four-year term as town supervisor, with 100 percent of the voting districts reporting, incumbent Republican Leonard Pero (53 percent) defeated Democratic challenger Daniel Kujawinski (47 percent) by approximately 45 votes.
In the four-way race for two seats on the Brant Town Board, incumbent Democrat Jeff Gier (28 percent) and Republican challenger Clark Borngraber (27 percent) were elected, defeating incumbent Democrat Roseann Turner (24 percent) and challenger Sherman Reickart (20 percent.)
EDEN —
With 85 percent of the voting districts reporting, incumbent Democrat Mary Lou Pew (32 percent) and incumbent Republican Rich Ventry (29 percent) lead challengers Jack Cuddihy (23 percent) and Glenn McLaughlin (17 percent) in a four-way race for two four-year terms on the Eden Town Board.
In the one-on-one race for town assessor, incumbent Democrat Robert Pietrocarlo (57 percent) leads Republican challenger Roxanne Mroz (43 percent.)
NORTH COLLINS —
With 100 percent of the voting districts reporting, Democrats Jeffrey Krauss (37 percent) and George Lobianco (33 percent) defeated Republican Rosaline Seege (31 percent) in a three-way race for two seats on the North Collins Town Board.
