School offers tours
Ss. Peter and Paul School, located in the center of the Village of Williamsville on Main Street, will soon celebrate its 175th anniversary. It was founded in 1836.
Students from age 3 through eighth grade attend the school. All day programs are opened to 3 and 4 year olds.
The class offers a traditional approach to learning, allowing for individual learning styles, in a climate where creativity and expression is fostered.
The teachings are centered on the catholic faith.
Each day, students learn about their faith and attend Mass every Wednesday. They prepare and actively participate in the liturgy each week.
This year, the students will celebrate the milestone birthday by engaging in service to others. At each grade level students have adopted a charitable cause and are working to help others who are less fortunate.
A respect life walk was recently held.
Students learn both Latin and Spanish at the school. They are also encouraged to incorporate technology into their daily studies.
Swimming, baseball, indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, skiing and golf teams encourage students to be physically fit and well-rounded.
Various opportunities are offered in music and drama each year.
The school also offers remediation in its learning center, which is coordinated by Paula Eastmer, special education teacher, and Theresa Maugans, title I teacher. Children who need acceleration are also encouraged to apply to the school’s accelerated programs in mathematics and reading.
Ss. Peter and Paul School has a modern approach to education, producing happy, articulate, well-rounded graduates.
Of the 48 students who graduated last year, 25 earned academic scholarships to area catholic high schools and all students were accepted to the private school of their choice.
To tour the school, call Principal Marianne Maines at 632-6146.
