    Woman’s Association presents check to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital

    BCH raising funds for digital mammography machine

    The Bertrand Chaffee Hospital Woman’s Association, a volunteer group that raises funds for the hospital, held their annual fashion show on Sunday, Sept. 27. This year’s proceeds will go toward buying the hospital a digital mammography machine. According to an appeal letter recently sent out to community members, “Digital Mammography, the highest standard of breast cancer screening technology, is an essential preventive measure in the detection of breast cancer.” BCH CEO Nils Gunnersen says, “Early detection saves lives and that is what we hope to accomplish.” Judith White, chairperson of the fashion show and Woman’s Association secretary, presented a $2,500 check to Gunnersen on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The hospital hopes to raise the necessary $350,000 and have the machine installed on-site by the end of 2010.
