    Student recognized for her performance

    Rebecca Siegrist, a senior at Mount St. Mary Academy, was recently named a 2010 National Merit Commended Student for her performance on the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) test.
    Mount St. Mary Academy Rebecca Siegrist was named a National Merit Commended Student.
    A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by Mount St. Mary Academy Principal Dawn Riggie to this scholastically talented senior.

    “The Mount St. Mary Academy community is so proud of Rebecca’s accomplishments,” said Riggie. “Her own hard work and dedication to her studies – coupled with the skills of her teachers – certainly are reflected in this award.”

    More than 1.5 million students entered the 2010 competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent, making Rebecca one of 34,000 students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

    “Recognition of high-achieving students is essential to advancing educational excellence in our nation,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “As demonstrated by their outstanding performance in our highly competitive program, the young men and women named Commended Students represent some of the most academically talented students in our country. We sincerely hope this recognition will enhance their educational opportunities and encourage them in their pursuit of academic success.”

    Siegrist is a member of Junior Statesmen of America, foreign language club and math club at Mount St. Mary Academy.
