Springville-Griffith Community Education Foundation dinner to support local athletics

SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Community Education Foundation will host a steak dinner fundraiser at Papa Jake’s Saloon in Springville on Wednesday, Aug. 29, beginning at 6 p.m.
The foundation, which has raised more than $100,000 during the past five years, will direct funds from this event to support the football program at Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District.
Foundation members are planning similar fundraisers to support arts and music programs for spring 2013 and said they hope to make these a biannual tradition for the community. The intended recipient for this dinner’s proceeds is the S-GI football program.
Tickets are available from SGCEF Board members, or by calling 592-2296. Email support@sgfound.org to make arrangements to pick up tickets. Foundation members recommended that interested persons purchase tickets early, as the members said they anticipate selling out by Aug. 29.
The foundation will hold its sixth annual wine tasting and silent auction on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Springville Health and Fitness. Sponsorships, silent auction items, volunteers and other forms of support are accepted. More than 300 guests have attended previous events.
