Springville-Griffith Institute preparation community conversation
Saturday December 29, 2012 | By:Press Release
SPRINGVILLE — The Springville-Griffith Institute budget preparation for the upcoming school year will include a community conversation, this year, with a stated goal of “hearing from residents, in order to gain a better understanding of the values held by S-GI stakeholders, which are pertinent to educational programs and operations.”
The community conversation is a model for eliciting feedback from a cross-section of district stakeholders, including parents, business owners, students, senior citizens, staff members, elected officials and community organizations.
The event will take place at Springville Middle School, located at 267 Newman St. in Springville, on Jan. 8, from 7 – 9 p.m.
Attendees will be divided into small groups and will follow a timed, structured format.
Topics will include the instructional program, extracurricular activities, facilities and operations. Board of education members, who will receive training, will serve as facilitators. There will be a record-keeper for each group.
This meeting will be an information-gathering session for the board members, as they progress through the budget development process.
Results from the conversation will be posted on the district’s website and will be considered, by the board, during the budget decision-making process.
The S-GI website can be found at www.springvillegi.org.
