Friends of Reinstein Nature Preserve, Inc. (FORNP) invites the public to “Meander in the Woods,” an adventure to take place at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 16. The event will raise funds to support environmental education programs at Reinstein Woods.

The event starts with a stroll along an “appetizer trail,” where participants can sample fabulous foods featuring familiar and not-so familiar ingredients that also grow wild in Reinstein Woods. Along the way, participants will learn a little about edible wild plants. Appetizers will include items like lemon balm pesto on pita crisps served with mock mint juleps, and mushroom ham roll-ups served with maple-flavored green tea.

Following the stroll, attendees will enjoy a barbecue dinner catered by Famous Dave’s while listening to the sounds of bluegrass music by the Pointless Brothers. Inside the Reinstein Woods’ Education Center, participants can take their chances on more than 80 items offered in a basket auction.

Tickets are $30 in advance and are available at the Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew, or by calling 683-5959. For a ticket order form that can be mailed, visit www.dec.ny.gov and search for “Meander in the Woods.”
