Colden Elementary School schedules holiday concert
The fifth grade CES orchestra will begin its program with “The Wooden Tap” by William Staebell. The orchestra’s conductor, Emily Staebell, is the daughter of that composer. The orchestra will continue with “Round, and Round” and will finish its portion of the program with “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” arranged by Staebell.
The Colden Chorus, consisting of fourth and fifth grade students, will sing “Christmas Wonderland.” This piece includes “Sleigh Ride” and “Winter Wonderland,” and will feature soloists Gabby Kinderman, Nyah Solly, Marin Lehr, Rachel Stressinger, Kathryn Rice, Brianna Kruszka, Hannah Bergner, Morgan Kotlarsz, Clara Murphy, Amanda Schroeder and Brian Buczek. District Orchestra Conductor Scott Roudebush, will be joining the chorus on the string bass, for this piece.
The chorus will continue with “Eight Days and Nights,” a song about Hanukkah, and “Our Gift For You,” a song featuring sign language. Its final piece, “Santa Mash-Up,” will feature choreography by Jaime Myers, Jeremiah Anderson on guitar and Nick Benstead on the drums. The chorus is conducted by Donna Benstead.
The Colden Fifth Grade Ensemble, consisting of band members, will play the folk tune “Erie Canal” and the “Mini March.” “Twinkling Fours” is based on the song “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” and the seasonal number will be “Up On the Housetop.” The ensemble will be conducted by Karen Jurkowski. Retired band director Carol Sniezak also assisted with the arrangements.
