Theater workshops held at SES
At the end of the day, the actors presented “Rumpelstiltskin,” calling on students in the audience to participate.
SCA recently announced that the four college interns are participating in children’s theater productions, including “Rumpelstiltskin,” to be performed in area elementary schools, and are also facilitating a number of children’s workshops this summer.
In addition, the interns are currently working on creating the curriculum for two musical theater workshops, a modified Shakespeare program and other children’s classes. Those will take place at the SCA during the summer.
Instructing and performing were Meghan Palmer, a sophomore musical theater major at State University of New York at Fredonia, Elizabeth Buehler of Cincinnati, Ohio, who is studying dance, arts for children and childhood education at SUNY at Brockport, Erica Miranda Diedrich, a recent graduate of Niagara University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre performance with a double minor in fine arts and communications, and Taylor Burkey, a sophomore at New York University, where she is pursuing a BFA degree in drama in experimental theatre.
