Students of St. John the Baptist School prepare for Holy Week
The students of St. John the Baptist School are preparing for Holy Week, the Catholic Church’s holiest week of the year commending the last days of Jesus’ life leading up to his death and resurrection on Easter Sunday. The eighth-grade students presented a living “Stations of the Cross,” depicting the final moments leading up the Jesus’ crucifixion.
“Being able to lead the younger students in prayer about something so important is pretty amazing,” said Alex MacPherson, who performed the role of Jesus.
“The tradition of presenting the ‘Stations of the Cross’ in one form or another goes back to the school’s inception. However, we wanted to find a form that would be engaging to help bring meaning about Good Friday and Easter to even the little ones,” added Kristen Tischer, eighth-grade teacher. “We’re proud of the prayerful approach our eighth-graders took, and hopefully the students and their families will have a deeper understanding as we enter Holy Week.”
