Wilson Lions Club holds ongoing eyeglasses collection

The Wilson Lions Club will be emphasizing eyeglasses collection for those in need, not only during Lions World Sight Day on Wednesday, but throughout the year.

Lions International President Wayne A. Madden notes that since 1998, Lions World Sight Day has been held each October to focus attention on eliminating preventable blindness and improving sight. Lions Clubs International cites first the need to collect eyeglasses for use throughout the world by people needing help with sight.

The Wilson Lions Club operates four eyeglasses collection sites in the Village of Wilson. Gathering thousands of donated eyeglasses means eventually helping thousands of eyeglasses-needing people throughout the world.

The Wilson Lions Club encourages people to donate their used eyeglasses at any one of the Lions eyeglasses collection sites or bring to them the Lions Halloween Party at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Wilson No. 1 Fire Hall.

The Wilson Lions Club has 38 members and meets on the third Monday of each month.
