“We all know how damaging bullying and cyberbullying is, and in today’s age, with the Internet at our fingertips, cell phones and social networking, there is truly no escaping it for teens and young adults who are harassed. They can be bullied at school, after school, when they go to bed and when they wake up. Now that the governor has signed the cyberbullying legislation I sponsored into law (Ch. 102 of 2012), these new guidelines will help put a stop to cyberbullying and provide a safe, secure environment for our children, both in and out of school.
“Parents and students have the right to know just what their schools are doing to stop bullying and cyberbullying. They also have the right to know where they can go if they are having problems. This law establishes a clear policy and it will go a long way toward keeping students safe and promoting a strong, secure learning environment.”
