ECDC and Art Trail to offer puppet show Nov. 17

The Erie Canal Discovery Center and Niagara Art Trail are pleased to welcome local puppeteer Meada Taylor and “Kumba-Nia Productions,” who will present a free, family-friendly, puppet show and introduction to puppeterring at 11 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Discovery Center, 24 Church St., Lockport.

This event is being offered in conjunction with the Niagara Art Trail weekend.

Kuumba-Nia Productions was founded in 1999 by Meada Taylor, a theater major of SUNY New Paltz and MS graduate of SUNY Buffalo, who saw a need to develop social skills in young people. This small family and friend puppet company operates out of Lockport, servicing social groups, schools, churches and private homes by offering shows and workshops.

Some past engagements include LCTV cable programming, Just Buffalo, Art Park , German Society of Western NY and a WUFO Radio event.

Kuumba-Nia volunteer staff consists of Arthur Taylor Jr. (NCCC Professor)/Public Relations and Rochelle Gleen Smith-Puppeteer/Workshop Assistant. The troupe’s mission is to help develop productive citizens through the arts of puppetry and drama.

Taylor’s puppet presentation will give a behind-the-scenes look at puppeteering. She will also include a puppet show utilizing farm animals and a Grimm’s Fairy Tale.

This special family program will be offered without charge and a free-will offering will be gladly accepted.
