ERIE COUNTY — David Shenk and Stefan Mychajliw are running for Erie County comptroller.

Shenk was appointed comptroller in February 2012 to replace Mark Poloncarz, after Poloncarz was elected Erie County executive. Prior to that, Shenk was the Boston town clerk and tax collector from 1991 until his appointment as comptroller.

Shenk served as the past president of the Erie County Association of Tax Receivers and Collectors, spent four years as a New York Association of Local Government Records Officers Board member, was a former member and treasurer of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library Board of Trustees, served on the budget and finance, bylaws and executive committees and served as chairman of the human resources committee.

Mychajliw has been endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

After working in TV news, Mychajliw served as a spokesman for the Buffalo School District. More recently, he ran his own public relations agency and served as co-host of an afternoon debate show on Channel 2.
