The Lancaster Market

LANCASTER- The Lancaster Market is having its last call for recipes for the Lancaster Market Cookbook. The market is looking for recipes that everyone wants, especially when you make it for a party and it is the one dish completely gone. Bring your recipes to the yellow truck no later than Sept. 1. If there is a story about the recipe please include. We hope to publish the book early next year. We are looking for advertisers now.

Canning season is here and to beat those high prices next year, can those vegetables and fruits now. A full variety of fruits and vegetables are available at the market now. Visitors can plan on canning demonstrations each weekend at the market till September. Check out our Web site at www.lancastervillagemarket.com for the schedule of the demonstrations.

Now that your garden has started to produce and those tomatoes are red. I have a simple salad that is terrific. Place some tomatoes, a few cucumbers, and a red onion slice all into a bowl. Sprinkle with some seasons like "dash" salt and pepper. You can add a small clove of garlic if desired. Just before serving add a tablespoon of Hellmann's Mayonnaise and toss. Serve with some fresh basil. You have to use Hellmann’s Mayonnaise for the best taste.

It is important for residents to take time to come to the market because we only will be around until the end of October. Thanks for your continued support.

The market is located at 4913 Transit Road, in Lancaster. It is opened from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Anyone interested in more information or interested in becoming a vendor call Ann Jordan at 481-2961.
