Head on crash between bus and car in Eden

At 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, a 2006 Chevrolet, while heading south on Route 62 near Carpenter Road in Eden, crossed over the road's center line and struck a Carrier Coach bus head on.

According to Town of Eden Police Lt. John H. McCarthy, the vehicle operator, a 21-year-old male from Gowanda, had to be extricated from the car by members of the Eden Emergency and Rescue Squad and the Eden Fire Department.

He was then transported to the Erie County Medical Center by an Eden ambulance and was listed in stable condition.

According to police, members of the Erie County Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team also responded to the crash scene to triage the driver of the bus, along with a bus aid and 11 special needs individuals. Three people from the bus were transported to ECMC by Eden EMS with minor injuries.

Erie County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit and the New York State Police are assisting with the crash investigation and charges may be pending.
