NTPD arrest one for stabbing

North Tonawanda Police were called to the front of 82 Webster Street, North Tonawanda, to respond to a possible stabbing occurrence.
An altercation, which involved eight to 12 males had occurred in front of Ava’s Place. After an investigation police arrested Joshua Oakes, 25, of Niagara Falls, for alledgedly taking out a knife and holding it to a potential victims throat and threatening to use the weapon and soon after stabbing another victim.
Oakes was charged with assault in the first degree, menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Detective Rob Kolata stated this does not often occur in North Tonawanda or near Ava’s Place.
Any witnesses who observed the crime take place are urged to contact the North Tonawanda Detective Bureau at 692-4312.
The victim who was stabbed is still hospitalized.
