Harris Hill Nursing Facility salutes WWII veteran

LANCASTER- The McGuire Group’s Harris Hill Nursing Facility has recognized veteran Vincent Werdein for his service during World War II. He was born on March 9, 1927 in Buffalo and served with the Marine Corp stationed in China.

He went to service at age 18 and served for three years. After retiring at the rank of PFC, Werdein worked at Fisher Price as a tool maker.

“You gain more respect for your country being in the service,” he stated. “Being in the service teaches you to look out for yourself.”

He married his wife Mary in 1981 and has five children, three daughters and two sons. He also has one grandson and one granddaughter. Werdein became a resident at Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Lancaster in March of 2011. He enjoys gardening and spending time with his wife.
