Lancaster teachers to hold charity hockey game

LANCASTER- The third annual Lancaster Central Teachers Association (LCTA) Charity Hockey Event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Holiday Rinks, located at 3465 Broadway, in Cheektowaga. Doors open at noon. Members of the LCTA will be playing the Western New York Media All-stars. Included on the roster for the Media team is former Buffalo Sabre Andrew Peters.

Tickets for the event are available through the Lancaster Youth Bureau, 200 Oxford Ave., Lancaster. Youths under 18 can also purchase tickets at the various Lancaster school buildings. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the day of the event.

Tickets are $5 per adult and $2 for youths under the age of 18. An adult ticket includes automatic entry in the raffle for the following prizes:

• First prize: One year gym membership to Fitness Fusion, a value of $360.

• Second prize: Philips Blu-ray Home Theater System, a value of $300.

• Third prize: Four to eight hour lift passes to Kissing Bridge, plus a $50 Harvest Room restaurant certificate, a value of $250.

• Fourth prize: Kindle Fire, a value of $200.

• Fifthprize: $100 certificate for Rick's on Main Street, in East Aurora, plus $25 Harvest Room restaurant certificate.

• Sixth prize: $100 certificate for Rick's on Main Street, in East Aurora.

A youth ticket includes automatic entry in a raffle for the following prizes:

• First prize: Autographed Patrick Kaleta Jersey, a value of $250.

• Second prize: IPOD Touch Fourth Generation, a value of $200.

• Third prize: Two-hour bowling party for 10 people at AMF Lancaster Lanes (includes shoe rental), a value of $150.

• Fourth prize: One-month of free classes, including uniform to World Class Master Chong's Tae Kwon Do, a value of $150 value.

There is no limit to number of tickets purchased, and winners do not need to be present at the event.

In addition to the above prizes, there will be a Chinese auction with more than 60 baskets, as well as a 50/50 drawing.

The game was a huge success last year. Thanks to generous donations from local businesses, the event raised $5,800. All proceeds from the event were split between the Lancaster Youth Bureau and the Lancaster Food Pantry.

The LCTA is looking forward to an even bigger turnout this year. The LCTA would also like to thank the Western New York Media All-Stars for contributing their time to the Lancaster community.
