Fall open house Oct. 27 at Lockport YMCA

This is the time of year when many residents of the Lockport area look for opportunities to get healthy, to try new activities and to volunteer. As they begin to pull together news articles focused on this topic, the YMCA would like to encourage people to learn more about the Lockport Family YMCA offerings for children, families and Lockport.

The Y is a place where members can create meaningful change in their lives and in their community. When people join the Y, they join a cause that strengthens community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Here, everyone gets stronger.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, they will hold our annual fall open house. Stop in to see what’s brewing at the Y. On that day residents can enjoy free fitness classes at 8 a.m. aerobics, and 8:30 a.m. water fitness. From 9 a.m. to noon members and guest can enjoy facility tours, preschool fun, preschool crafts, refreshments, member appreciation and the Barge Canal Optimist Club Happy House. UNYTS Blood Drive will also take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – walk-ins welcome. Stop in, take a tour and spin the prize wheel – everyone is a winner. A free family gym and swim will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. and is open to the public.

Become a member of the Y that day and pay no joiner fee, up to a $75 savings. Stop in at the fall open house, visit www.lockportymca.com, contact Peggy Allen at 434-8887, ext. 24 or email info@lockportymca.com for more information.
