Lockport — The Lockport High School Foreign Exchange Club is sponsoring a Zumbathon from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, in the new gym.
Zumba is a worldwide fitness program. It incorporates physical activity with international music in an effective, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning dance fitness-party. It’s an exhilarating whole body workout that continues to move millions of people toward joy and health.
Each year, in an attempt to fulfill their goal of social responsibility, the LHS Foreign Exchange Club identifies a not-for-profit organization in their community for sponsorship. Students, administrators and faculty will all participate in this initiative to raise awareness of and desperately needed funds for Lockport CARES. This emergency homeless shelter is located at 192 Genesee St. in the City of Lockport.
Community members who wish to sponsor a student for a donation in any amount can call LHS at 478-4501, ext. 5203.
Through the “Zumbathon,” the caring students and staff at Lockport High School will create healthy hearts and support Lockport CARES, an emergency shelter that has served more than 400 men, women and families since opening in November of 2009.
Lockport CARES relies on churches, organizations and community support to keep its doors open and to replace despair with hope.
