There is much to do at this year’s Niagara County Fair, which will highlight 75 years of 4-H.
The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Aug. 4, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.
The cost of the fair is $2 per person Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and $3 per person Friday and Saturday. Children 4 and under are free.
This year’s fair will feature unique activates along with annual fair favorites.
Fair organizer Linda Conlin said some of the new activates for this year’s fair include Mr. Sunshine, who will be doing a family sing-a-long on the food court stage.
There will also be Clumsy the clown, favorite cartoon characters who will be roaming the grounds and jugglers and unicyclists.
Other activates that families will enjoy participating in is the Paul Bunyan Contest. There is also a 4-H scavenger hunt and a QR code hunt that can be done with cell phones.
Unique to this year’s fair is a 4-H cake quit and the return of the square dance, in celebrating 75 years of 4-H in Niagara County.
Some returning events include the antique tractor parade, toy tractor pull, Lockport Robotics Team demonstrations, Classic Car Show, the Book Barn, where people can bring-a-book and take-a-book, the 4-H livestock auction, Mercy Flight landing, Greased Pole contest, Hot-Shot Basketball contests, Teddy Bear picnic and the Beer Tent on Friday and Saturday nights.
There will also be a variety of 4-H animals for people to enjoy, as well as the rides and games. Fireworks will again take place at 10 p.m. Friday.
“The Niagara County Fair has affordable admission and free parking,” said Conlin. “There is lots of free stage entertainment. The fair program is geared to family.”
