Local man pleads guilty in federal court

LANCASTER- Recently, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul announced that Kevin Hinca, 23, of Lancaster, pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to import Oxycontin across the United States-Canadian border.
Hinca was arrested Oct. 12, following the delivery of 125 Oxycotin pills in the parking lot of the D&L Plaza, located on Broadway. The drug had been transported over the Peace Bridge from Canada earlier in the day.
In April of 2011, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) began an investigation into the large scale trafficking of prescription medication from Canada into the Buffalo area. Between the months of September and October, the DEA utilized a confidential source to make three undercover purchases of 140 pills from Hinca.
Hinca now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine up to $1 million. He will appear for sentencing before Chief U.S. Distrcit Judge William M. Skretny Friday, July 27.
