Brighton Place receives gift from CHAT group
They meet monthly at Caputti’s on Sheridan Drive where to determine what non-profit organization or local charities they will help next.
One of the charities CHAT has donated to is Camp Special Place, run by the Town of Tonawanda Parks and Recreation Dept. to send under-privileged children to summer camp.
The club has sponsored kids since 2005 and is currently sponsoring eight children. The club has also donated time and money to food pantries, collected clothing with the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief and donated to the local SPCA.
The club also works closely with the Town of Tonawanda Police Club and their charitable endeavors, including “Toys for Tonawanda” holiday toy drive.
Brighton Place was pleased to hear that CHAT was interested in helping with fulfilling their need for updated computer stations. President Pat O’Connor quickly went to work on identifying and purchasing 10 new computer for the library. This new technology center has provided members with speedier, more elaborate software, allowing young and old to pursue their interests, career objectives and connect with family and friends that they may not otherwise have the ability to stay in contact with.
Now that Brighton Place has this technology it will be able to move forward with its efforts to serve the community by offering senior computer classes, assisting those seeking employment with resume building classes and those still in school with tutoring through online resources.
