Volunteers needed for Hearts and Hands

ALDEN - Hearts and Hands, a not-for-profit organization, which pairs elderly and disabled persons with helping volunteer for non-medical services, is very much in need of volunteer drivers in the Alden area.
A “neighbor to neighbor” organization, Hearts and Hands is committed to making volunteering easy. Volunteers accept only the assignments that fit their schedules and skills. Hearts and Hands staff members coordinate appointments between volunteers and care receivers so that if a volunteer has to say “no,” they are saying it to a Hearts and Hands staff person and not a care receiver.
Volunteers are covered by Heart and Hands’ supplemental liability insurance and there is mileage reimbursement for trips taken.
Volunteers are taught how to best help those who are elderly and disabled so that both the volunteer and the care receiver can be comfortable. Hearts and Hands volunteers do not provide medical care and no lifting or medical procedures are involved.
“Some of our volunteers accept several trips every week; some volunteer once a month,” commented Akron-Alden Volunteer Services Coordinator, Tabitha Fisher. “We also have seasonal volunteers, people who vacation elsewhere for part of the year but are still available to us during certain months. We value all of our volunteers who enable us to assist those in need in our community.”
