Lockport Zonta Club plans autumn wine dinner Nov. 10

The Zonta Club of Lockport is planning an elegant evening of fine food and wine, auction and an dancing for their annual fall fund-raiser to support the club’s scholarship program. A dinner and wine pairing will be featured at the event to be held on Nov. 10 at the Lockport Town and Country Club.
A four course dinner and wine pairing will be presented by Jonathan Oakes, wine maker at Leonard Oakes Estate Winery. The appetizer course is pan seared sea scallops over a bed of butternut squash and asparagus risotto paired with Leonard Oakes Estate Winery’s 2011 Traminette followed by the harvest field green salad paired with Schulze Vineyards and Winery’s 2011 Siegfried Reserve . The entrée is a charred 6oz filet paired Freedom Run Winery’s 2010 Cabernet Franc ending with a pumpkin tort served with tea or coffee.
The President of the Zonta Club, Carol Spedding, said that the planning committee has been busy preparing for the event which will have a live auction, cash raffle and dancing. A cash bar and hors d’oeurvres begins at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. There is a donation of $55 per person to benefit the club scholarship fund. Zonta Club of Lockport provides scholarships each year for women attending or returning to college. Applications for next year’s senior high school scholarships will be available in December from local high school guidance counselors. Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.
