LANCASTER- County Clerk Chris Jacobs has announced a new partner in his “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Program but “this goes well beyond a mere discount,” said Jacobs.
Metro Roberts Realty Owner Jim Roberts upon hearing of the clerk’s “Thank A Vet” program proposed this idea to Jacobs to offer veterans an opportunity to become a licensed real estate agent and get into real estate as a career. Under this initiative Metro Roberts Realty will fund 100 percent of the start-up costs for a veteran to become a licensed real estate agent in New York State.
The “Metro Roberts Realty Veterans to Realtors Program” will assist veterans trying to re-enter the workforce by covering the cost of all required licensing classes, Multiple Listing Service (MLS) dues and any other costs for getting established in the business. These costs can easily exceed $3,000.
“This sounds like a great program. I wish something like this were around when I came out of the service,” said Greg Scott a certified appraiser at Metro Roberts Realty and a Vietnam veteran.
“Veterans are hard-working, highly disciplined, and accustomed to overcoming obstacles,” said Roberts. “We believe a career in real estate will be a great fit and simply it’s the right thing to do for those who have given so much to our country.”
In addition to the “Veterans to Realtors Program,” Metro Roberts Realty will also offer a discount of 12 percent on any commissions when the party is a veteran.
“This is a very significant benefit to a veteran who buys or sells a home with Metro Roberts Realty,” said Jacobs.
