Motorcycle shop eyed in the Town of Boston
A motorcycle shop may become the latest business to open in the Town of Boston.
John and Jennifer Previty presented a proposal to the Boston Planning Board for Bison Cycles, a business that will sell and service motorcycles last Tuesday (Aug. 9).
Board members tabled the plan because they need to see a site plan before proceeding. They also requested details about where the store’s garbage receptacle will be placed.
The Previtys, who live in theTown of Hamburg, own a motorcycle shop in Lockport. Bison Cycles, which they have eyed for 8032 Boston State Road next to Buffalo Buck’s Smokehouse Restaurant, would be a division of Previty’s Motor Cars.
Their store would offer sales, service, storage and apparel.
A board member asked about lighting behind the business. John Previty told the board he prefers no lighting there.
“I don’t like lighting in the back because it attracts thieves,” he said.
He added the business will not have a large garbage container.
In recent years, True Colours hair salon, a Tim Hortons coffee and baked goods shop, a Subway restaurant and Buffalo Buck’s Smokehouse Restaurant have opened on Boston State Road.
There is also a pending proposal for a Dollar General store on vacant land next to Brunner’s Eatery.
Board members also recommended reappointing Richard Brox as the planning consultant. The town board will consider the request.
After finishing its agenda items, the board conducted a work session in which it discussed limiting where businesses may open. Members voiced a desire to keep businesses in the town’s hamlets and not let them spread into other areas.
The town’s three hamlets have no official definition. Board members discussed defining the North Boston hamlet as Route 219 to Abbott Road, the Patchin hamlet as May Drive to Liebler Road and the Boston hamlet as Aspen Drive to Sunset Road.
Boston State Road, where most of the town’s businesses are located, runs through the hamlets.
Board members expect to continue the discussion during future meetings.
