Collins Plow Fest provides an old-fashioned flair to the 21st century

READY FOR WAGON RIDES — A number of horse-drawn wagons, even a stage coach, provided plenty of wagon rides for those who wanted to experience a different form of travel, like that of the "good old days." (Photo by Mary Pankow)

TOE-TAPPING TUNES — Country Memories provides some down-home country music during this year's Plow Fest. (Photo by Mary Pankow)

SITTING TALL IN THE SADDLE — Karlah-Jane Walker, 2, of Little Valley, takes a trip around the corral during the plow fest. Children could enjoy a ride on a horse and for many, like Karlah-Jane it was their first experience on a horse.. (Photo by Mary Pankow)

FITTING THE FIELD — Horses of all colors were hooked up to farm implements and then given the task of plowing the field on Wheater Road in Collins during last Sunday's 30th Annual Collins Draft Horse, Ox & Pony Club Plow Fest. Hundreds attended the event to see how farming was done in bygone days. (Photo by Mary Pankow)

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL — A variety of animals gave children and adults a chance to see farm critters up close, and even pet some of them, such as this miniature mare and her foal. (Photo by Mary Pankow)

WAITING FOR ANTIETAM —With Antietam coming up as the next Civil War battle re-enactment, these "soldiers" from the 33rd Virginia set up camp at the plow fest, passing the time until "General Lee sends them their orders." From left are Corporal John W. Stoneburner (Ron Macchioni), Sergeant George Washington Snodgrass (Kevin Collins), Private Reuben Fry (Alex Macchioni), and Private Garland Jenkins (Chuck Denton), who is showing a plow fest visitor the Confederate flag. The Battle of Antietam led to President Abraham Lincoln issuing his Emancipation Proclamation. (Photo by Mary Pankow)
