Mt. Mercy Academy hosts Sample, Sip and Shop event
One of the many Christmas and Holiday themed events of the holiday season to be held at Mount Mercy Academy, various items were available for purchase from a collection of local vendors, and guests sampled wine and light refreshments throughout the evening. Items available for purchase included jewelry, crafts, candles, and unique gift ideas.
Vendors included representatives from Mary Kay, Thirty One Gifts, and Dog Ears Bookstore amongst others, with many vendors being alumni of the school.
Judie Schmelzinger, an alumnus of Mount Mercy and sole proprietor of “Jude Laines Jubilee Cater & Crafts” assisted in several ways throughout the evening.
Judie had a booth featuring her hand made crafts which ranged from her “kitchen angels”, a towel set designed in the shape of an angel for those hard to buy for cooks in your life, to decoratively lit bottles, that can be individualized and made in any wine or spirit bottle of your choosing.
In the spirit of helping others Judy not only joined the vendors for the evening, but she also supplied the hors d’oeuvres for the night. Drop off catering and edible arrangements by Judie Schmelzinger can be ordered by calling (716) 648-1746.
Mercy’s “Sample, Sip and Shop Night Out” was one of the school’s gift gathering party to raise funds for the costs of their annual gala, scheduled to be held Apr. 13.
Event Coordinator Leanne Maloney and Director of Institutional Advancement Brittany Finnegan-Zandi were on hand to oversee the shopping event, and were thrilled with the outcome of the event.
“We have the best value in education in the area” stated Director Finnegan-Zandi, “We strive to offer not only a great academic education, but also impressive athletic programs and extracurricular activities. We now have students coming from Orchard Park, Hamburg, the Northtowns and from as far as Gowanda. We try to make the experiences available at our school an option for every young woman that wishes to attend Mount Mercy Academy, and the fundraisers are an important part of making this possible for our students”.
Other upcoming events at Mount Mercy Academy include a Christmas wreath making event on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6pm at Lockwood’s Greenhouse, located at 4484 Clark Street, Hamburg.
A donation of $50 includes all products for your wreath, a wreath making class, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Participants are asked to dress warm and comfortable. To RSVP for the wreath making event contact Event Coordinator Leanne Maloney at 825-8796 x306.
