LANCASTER- With an air of creativity and a sweep of the brush, residents at Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Lancaster have utilized a technique they define as Progressive Art Work to create more than 50 works of art over the past few months.
From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, the community is invited to a grand opening reception at the facility, 2699 Wehrle Drive, Lancaster, where the pieces will be auctioned off through a silent auction running through October 1. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the resident council, which coordinates special events and trips for the residents and supports charitable organizations throughout the year.
The Progressive Art Pieces were completed by groups of residents over a number of sessions. Each individual painter contributed a particular component to create a unique and beautiful piece in the end. Various techniques and mediums were used including acrylic on canvas, watercolor, sponge painting, fingerprint painting and layered paper.
“The most exciting part is showing the residents the finished pieces and seeing the smile on their faces,” stated Jillian Skibinski, activity director at Harris Hill. “Even the smallest contribution adds a special element and completes the piece.”
Harris Hill Nursing Facility provides 24-hour skilled nursing care, post-hospital and outpatient rehabilitation, specialized memory care and respite/short-term care. For more information, visit www.mcguiregroup.com.
