Visual and performing arts grants available to area teachers

NORTH TONAWANDA - The Remember Ryan Foundation Inc. is offering a second round of competitive mini-grants to public, private and parochial pre-K through sixth grade teachers for the 2012-2013 school year. Individual grants in amounts up to $1,000 will be awarded for educational projects and activities emphasizing the visual or performing arts.
The competition is limited to schools within the geographical boundaries of the North Tonawanda, Niagara-Wheatfield, Starpoint, Sweethome, Amherst, Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda and Tonawanda School Districts. BOCES teachers within the districts are also eligible.
The Remember Ryan Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, was created in memory of Ryan A. Bertini, has awarded more than $45,000 to area schools to date. Up to $10,000 in grants will be awarded for the 2012-2013 school year.
Application information is available at the Foundation website,
www.RememberRyanFoundation.org. The deadline for applications is November 30, 2012.
