Lockport police find body in canal

An unidentified body was found Tuesday in the Erie Canal.
At around 12:15 p.m., the Lockport Police Department was summoned to investigate a body reportedly floating in the canal near the North Adam Street bridge.
Responding officers discovered the body of an unidentified 40- to 5-year-old white male floating in the canal. Police and the Lockport Fire Department removed the body.
County Coroner Ken Lederhouse took custody of the body pending an autopsy at Erie County Medical Center.
Police are currently attempting to identify the body and notify next of kin.
