Reminder to residents: SPCA to offer free rabies clinic

Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick encourages pet owners to attend the County’s free rabies clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets.
Organized by the Erie County Department of Public Health, in partnership with the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society and the SPCA, serving Erie County, the clinic is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the SPCA, 205 Ensminger Road, Tonawanda.
“Pet owners have a responsibility to protect their animals and their community,” Hardwick said. “This is an easy and free way to get animals vaccinated.”
The following requirements must be met in order to receive the rabies vaccination:
· Pets must be at least three months old.
· Proof of previous rabies vaccination must be provided to receive a three-year certificate; otherwise a one-year certificate will be issued.
· All dogs, cats and ferrets must be restrained using a leash and/or pet carrier.
· No person shall be allowed to have more than three pets in line at one time.
