The Eden Town Board scheduled a public hearing to discuss possible changes to the fee schedule for town permits at their next regular meeting on Feb. 13.
At that meeting, the town will present planned changes to the fees charged by the town for different building permits. Eden’s permit fees have not been updated for several years, according to Town Supervisor Glenn Nellis. The proposed fee schedule is based on a comparative study of fee schedules in surrounding towns, including Evans and Hamburg.
Some permit costs in the proposed plan will increase, according to Nellis, but many will remain the same and some permit costs will decrease. These changes will affect all building permits, from whole property construction to partial property projects.
The public hearing will take place at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, during the town board’s regularly scheduled meeting which begins at 7:30 p.m.
In other business, the board:
• Discussed the receipt of a petition from the Eden Central School District Board of Education to reduce the speed limit on Schoolview Road. Nellis said that the town had met with officials from the district as well as state and county officials to discuss various safety improvements on the road. Possible changes include stronger streetlights as well as the installation of reflective road signs.
