It is time once again to get a taste of what Lockport area restaurants have to offer.
The 12th annual Taste of Lockport will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 in Ida Fritz Park.
This year’s taste will feature more than 20 local restaurants, wineries and eateries, each ready to prove they are the best at what they do.
The 2012 Taste of Lockport will also feature a Hawaiian theme, and participants will try and find the perfect dish to meet that theme.
“It’s one of the best events for the City of Lockport,” said event organizer Gary Chapman. “It’s full of great food, local restaurants and eateries.”
Chapman said that each year the event brings in between 7,500 to 10,000 people into Lockport from all around Western New York.
Participating restaurants include: Shamus, Pour Boyz, Cammarata’s Restaurant, Sweet Melody’s, DeFlippo’s Ristorante, Mrs. Ribs, The Butcher Shop, Papa Leo’s Pizzeria, Manhattan’s, Hoagie Brothers, Molinaro’s Ristorante, Ted’s Hot Dogs, Dee’s Sugar Shack, Formal BBQ and Event Catering, Cross Roads Pizza, Wings and More, Pizza Oven, Lock 34, Lake Effect Ice Cream, Niagara County Farm Bureau and Seas the Day Seafood.
There will also be wineries in attendance for people to taste and sample their products. Soda, wine and beer will also be served throughout the day.
Chapman said the event would also feature “awesome” entertainment, including musical performances from Ultra Violet, who will perform from noon to 3 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. the Teasers will perform.
At 4 p.m. to Hot Country Liners Dance team will perform and awards will be presented at 5 p.m.
A UNYTS Blood Drive and a Chinese auction will take place throughout the day.
The event is free to attend. Food sample will cost anywhere from $1 to $3. No food items will be priced more than $3.
The Taste of Lockport is sponsored by the Lockport Business Association, and the proceeds of the event benefit their mission and goals.
